How a Birmingham startup plans to tackle prostate cancer
November 30, 2015
Vituro Health CEO Clete Walker shared his insights about the launch of the Birmingham-based company with the Birmingham Business Journal on Nov. 30, 2015.
Walker discussed the partnership with Vituro Health Medical Director Stephen Scionti, M.D., the leading U.S. HIFU expert and Vituro Health’s first partner physician, who is based out of Sarasota, Fla., at the Scionti Prostate Center.
Vituro Health is taking advantage of a newly-approved FDA treatment for prostate cancer called high- intensity focused ultrasound that’s noninvasive and limits certain side effects of other treatments. The company plans to partner with physician offices in markets around the country to provide the HIFU technology and start a concierge medicine service for disease management and follow-up care using patient coordinators.
