Georgia Urology partners with Vituro Health to bring HIFU, concierge medicine offerings to Atlanta
February 18, 2016
More options for prostate cancer patients — such as minimally-invasive high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) therapy and concierge medical care — will soon be available in Georgia as the largest urology practice in the Southeast joins the expanding Vituro Health network.
Georgia Urology, located in Atlanta, partnered with Vituro Health to give their patients close-to-home access to the latest treatment available just months after the FDA cleared HIFU therapy in the U.S. in October 2015.
“I’ve been looking at ways to bring HIFU in-house so we can treat more patients who want the therapy but do not want to travel,” said Vahan Kassabian, M.D., F.A.C.S., medical director at Georgia Urology. “When Vituro Health CEO Clete Walker approached me about working together, I decided that was the best way to go. HIFU was the impetus for the partnership and the concierge medicine offering cemented it.”
Kassabian has been treating patients with HIFU therapy for the past decade at Les Cours Medical Center in Montreal, Canada. Concierge medicine has been a well-received trend in Canada in recent years.
“I love the concierge medicine part of the partnership because I can ensure my patients have access to a personalized program as well as precision care.”
Patients who choose the Vituro Health concierge medicine program will receive many added benefits, including:
- A concierge medical partner to help review test results and understand how to make use of this important information
- Facilitation and scheduling of a wide range of tests, as needed, from blood work to genetic testing to biopsies
- Administrative support for pursuing insurance coverage, coordinating physician appointments and procedures/surgeries, as needed
“Vituro Health provides comprehensive prostate care to empower men during all stages of their lives, and partnering with esteemed practices such as Georgia Urology is a vehicle to accomplish our efforts,” said Walker. “We are pleased to not only work with Georgia Urology, but also to have another highly experienced HIFU physician such as Dr. Kassabian available to our patients.”
Kassabian has three patients ready to schedule initial HIFU treatments once Georgia Urology’s machine is delivered and installed. He expects to be scheduling procedures by mid-March.
