Employee Spotlight Blog: Blake Bonner, Vituro Health Insurance Coordinator
Tell us about yourself!
I was born and raised right here in the state of Alabama about an hour away from Birmingham. After high school, I attended Auburn University where I earned a B.S. in Healthcare Administration (War Eagle!) and I’ve worked in healthcare ever since. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling to new places, and checking out new restaurants here in Birmingham.
What do you feel like helped you the most in your time at Auburn?
Professionally speaking, my coursework is what has helped me the most since graduation. The healthcare-related classes especially prepared me for the challenges I face each day.
What does your job at Vituro involve?
In my primary role as Insurance Coordinator, I work with our patients and their insurance companies to facilitate the pre-authorization, claims, and appeals processes for their procedures. I also serve as the primary point of contact for patients in certain regions and handle all their scheduling needs and insurance-related questions.
How did you get your start at Vituro Health?
I stumbled across the job ad on the Birmingham MGMA website. It piqued my interest and after researching the company, I immediately submitted my resume. The position was a perfect fit with my career goals. After a few interviews, I was offered the position. To say I was thrilled at the opportunity to join the team at Vituro is an understatement!
How have you seen Vituro grow in your time here?
I have seen many exciting changes from expanding into new markets to adopting new technologies. We are always working to help men with prostate cancer.
What has been your favorite part about working at Vituro?
I would have to say the patient interaction and being a part of something that is making a difference in the quality of life for them.
How do you like living in Birmingham?
I love Birmingham! I lived here during my childhood and moved back right after college, so it has always felt like home. With the growth over the last few years, there’s always something new to check out.
What is your go-to activity after a long day at work?
I usually get together with a group of friends for a nice dinner at least once a week.
What is your best memory working here?
When I first started with Vituro, I got to travel down to Sarasota and meet Dr. Scionti and the team there which I really enjoyed!
What do you hope to see from Vituro Health in the coming future?
I’d love to see Vituro grow so that HIFU is easily accessible for anybody affected by prostate cancer.
